A stiff or frozen shoulder is the number one shoulder problem that affects athletes, senior individuals and, in certain cases, even inactive individuals with no history of any pain in the shoulder at all. Many who battle pain and discomfort daily will resort to all kinds of unproven remedies, including topical lotions. If you have been battling with a stiff and uncomfortable shoulder for months or even years, now is the time to begin your recovery as you travel down the road to shoulder satisfaction.

How often have you resorted to strange and unproven methods to cure your daily shoulder problems? Patients have reported using everything from condiments such as mustard and tomato sauce to motor-oils, rubbing salts and even, in some extreme cases, chemical bleach products! The causes of frozen shoulder are varied and ranges from hereditary factors to over-exertion due to sports or injury. All the while, sufferers of frozen shoulder resort to home remedies which at best offers a placebo effect that only serves to mask the true condition.

Is this a necessarily a bad thing? These patients are not harming themselves, and their crazy concoctions keep them happy and ‘pain-free’ for short bursts of time. There is no point arguing against their methods, as they have most likely concocted an elaborate series of daily routines to lessen their localised pain in shoulder. If they believe that it is working, then it is working, just not medically of course. The same individual will also not be medically open to the possibility that their treatment is pure curative mythology so to speak.

Which brings us to the focus of this article; will strenuous exercise cure the onset or ongoing condition of frozen shoulder? It has been shown in many cases that shoulder problems of this magnitude are often self-resolved after a period of one or two years. Regardless of the treatment, whether topical or through surgical methods, your injured shoulder can see remarkable improvements. All it takes is time.

For those of us who cannot wait for their injuries to work themselves out, specific physician-guided physiotherapy is a curative method that can be applied with great success and a high rate of success. If you are considering this form of treatment, it is imperative that you begin sooner rather than later, as impaired motion due to pain in shoulder can affect 50% of all shoulder functions. Increased function and decreased pain should be the motivating factors behind your decision.

A physician can create a physical-therapy program for your specific condition. It is at this point that you will need to adhere to weekly or daily sessions in order to strengthen the underlying shoulder problem. The internet is a vast resource of shoulder related information and specific documents that pertain to sports injuries or relieving frozen shoulder pain. It is also highly possible that a true home cure can be recommended - one that is physician has approved, but it is best to seek proper medical advice for any shoulder problem. In time an inclusive treatment can be recommended, which will provide direct pain reduction by means of established and proven approaches. Keep your shoulder pain at bay and maintain a positive outlook.
